We’re all part of the ecosystem
To protect the future, we need to understand the past
What we believe
We believe the forests belong to us all, and together we can advocate for transparency and accountability on privately managed forest lands.

What we do
We bring together communities and individuals who are directly impacted by logging on privately managed forest lands.
Guided by research and experience, the alliance’s objective is to advocate for responsible management–including legislation and oversight–in range of areas:
Ecosystem Services including ground and surface water quantity and quality and climate impacts
Harvest rates and methods that retain robust ecosystem services
The maintenance and enhancement of biodiversity
Responsible legacy access and recreation
Collaboration between stakeholders including neighboring residences, farms, businesses and communities

Why we do it
In the twenty plus years since enactment of the Private Managed Forest Lands Act, forest practices have resulted in an accelerated rate of cut using a short rotation (50 Years) clearcut silviculture system, mechanized harvesting, and an expanded raw-log-export economic model.
A majority of the forests removed are located in watersheds serving coastal communities, degrading the ability for the affected ecosystems to provide stable, effective delivery of water resources, wildlife habitat, and recreational experiences.
Who we do it for
The management of our local forests impacts all of us
From the spawning salmon we rely on on our rivers and streams, to the kids riding bikes on the forest trails to the farms that feed us all.
We’re here to fulfill our responsibilities to our communities and the land we live on by holding Forestry companies accountable.
